Tentacles and Mechs is based off Spicks and Specks, there's 5 rounds of anime trivia, multimedia rounds and public humiliation.

Ah I see, That'd be fun to watch. It's a shame my anime trivia is so limited, otherwise I'd join in.

I'm sure you could score points on the public humiliation rounds :P Either way you can join the audience, last year the audience one the game over the 2 teams, this year they weren't far off either, I'm a heavy believer in audience participation, makes it much more fun to attend and keeps the teams honest

don't forget that you were scoring quite nicely yourself Blah.

I'd like to put up my hand to do CMD again. Being humiliated as Tamaki, by Lust, really... it was fun being so in character. Even if the only reliable way to get mystery bach's is on the day - probably snagging them as they come out of the cosplay comp next time, much easier than finding who's hanging around where I'm filling in for someone on rego. I learned that lesson, and I'd really like to keep going at this.

How about a wheel of fortune spin off: wheel of pocky

or a where's wally/insert a random character's name: similar to what Zuzu did at this years AIcon as Aiko, but instead of looking randomly there's clues used

hmmm i could do that, feels like sparring back in the old dojo. ha ha ^^ , if we did that it would probably mean that i'd have to go back into training. I can also reccomend a mix and match like scenario where you have characters from the other fighting RPGs or anime character vs anime character using special or made up moves
Would you like a barcode with your purchase???

Could be good, you would just have to be careful and have a very very clear set of safety rules etc.

Also on a side note, sorry I have been so absentee. I will start up a new thread by monday listing all the due dates for event and panels submissions etc and start getting events properly underway.

I am not sure if I should put this here or somewhere else as this is more closely related to the screening rooms, but here I go.

While doing research on next years theme I came across an anime series that is pretty much an animated retelling of Japanese fairytales and folklore. Earlier in the year it came up that one of the down falls of the screening room was that viewers had to commit large blocks of time to watching the screened animes. This lead to attendance in screening rooms to be pretty low as most con-goers didn't want to didicate 30mins to an hour to watching anime when there were events on.

The series is called 'Manga Nihon Mukashibanshi' its a pretty old series aimed at children so the animation style is pretty basic but the advantage is that each story is only about 10 mins long (so viewers don't hae to invest too much time), is completely independant from other stories and can fall under the theme/cultural angle of next years con. It may be possible to use some of the episodes in some way in the screening rooms either as fillers betweens seriesor something.

Only con so far is that I haven't been able to locate any decent eng sub versions, other people maybe more successful.

Note: this is just a suggestion and may come to nothing depending on how everyone else feels about it.

This is a link to one of the stories 'Hanasaka Jiisan' (Grandfather Sakura) the subs aren't that great though.

I was bombarded by thoughts about the auction last night when I was trying to go to sleep, and when I woke up this morning, still able to remember them, they seemed like pretty good ideas, so I thought I'd share.

What if, rather than making the auction an event confined to a couple of hours, we had it running all weekend, but in an ebay sort of way. People can come in to where all the auction stuff is set up and laid out, look around all the stuff they can place bids for, then go and talk to a volunteer and place bids on various items, then go away to an event or panel, and check back again later, see if someone else made a bid, and up their own bid if they want to.

This way, they know all the stuff they can bid for, so they aren't holding out, and they don't have to worry about having spent all their money at the traders hall, because it would be open from the beginning of the con, and they can look around the whole time - effectively putting the auction in competition with the traders, but hey, the traders can put stuff in the auction room as well.

It also means that, if people come on the first day, see stuff in the auction they want, and place bids, then they HAVE to come back the next day to see if they win the bidding.

I also wondered if there might be a raffle/door-prize or something, that people can buy tickets for as they come through registration.

Ok guys with six months till C-DAY (CON-DAY) I would like to start confirming hosts and organisers for events so that we aren't running frantic later on. That said people need to start getting in any last minute suggestions for events so that I can find hosts/organisers etc and get the ball rolling on any viable new ideas. Messages have been sent to those who volunteered for events to confirm that they are still able/interested in running their nominated events.

As of today the following events still need organisers/hosts:
Fruits Fashion Competition - open
Opening Ceremony - open
Closing Ceremony - open
Cosplay Competition - Seeking co-host to help Darkeco

the following events are awaiting confirmation regarding hosts/organisers or viabilty:
Scavenger Hunt - Iron_Rose

The follow events have been completely confirmed:
AMV Competition - Blah
Tentacles and Mechs - Blah
Auction - Vagrant and Iron_Rose
Fanfic Competition – Saiyako
Whose Subtitle is it Anyway – Saiyako
Deal or no Deal - Shadowka07
Cosplay Chess - Bryon(Manifest)
Cosplay Olympia - justin(smash)
AVCon Quiz - AVCon reps
Thank Kami You're Here - Dent
Tournament of Win – Zuzu
Cosplay Mystery Date - miss K and sammi(host)

EDIT: WE REALLY NEED PEOPLE FOR THE OPENING AND CLOSING CEREMONIES

It has similarities to Tourni of Win, I'll talk to Justin about it, see if he wants to still do it, or modify it, or do another event entirely.

*puts up hand to do Cosplay Mystery Date*

I had fun this year, I think it went well generally, and I'd really like to do it again.

(Having learned from experience though, I won't try and get people to sign up for it before hand, but rather hang about the cosplay competition and ask a few people quietly if they're interested as people are leaving.)

Please. I really want CMD again.

Sammi was saying today she was interested in hosting Cosplay Mystery Date, and that way we can keep our rule of event organisers not hosting by themselves.
